  • Prepare a quotation of repair required by client.
  • General manager review the quotations and adjusted the last details.
  • Managed 10 worker when performing duties in line with local and IACS code of class society of vessels.
  • Reviewed plans and inspected ongoing repair to keep work in line.}
  • Inspection with our manager onsite of the advanced of jobs.
  • Last mechanical repair was a MAK engine 9M32C machining nine (9) journals of crankshaft of main engine. During this repair was machining the journals 279.50 mm, except the journal #5 in 279.00, Nominal diameter 279.96 mm. We used subcontractor for machining of the journals.
  • Repaired the hydraulic cylinder of cargo crane because was installed in wrong positions the seals.
  • I am hired as a repair superintendent but when not have repair jobs work as a service engineer, commissioning engineer in BWTS, MARICSA is certified by ERMA FIRST to work the ballast system.
  • We are in contact with the maker of the BWTS by emails and onboard they used a wechats group of each vessel have a different cases.
  • I travel around 80% in central america and south america.
  • My knowledge was expanded to work with downloaded software to PLC, update a new revision provided by maker, electrical installation, pneumatics systems, steel jobs, maintenance, annual calibrations of sensors (H2 sensor, pressure transmitter, temperature sensors, flowmeters, flow switch, level sensor, pneumatics valves with positioners, transformers.)

  • Wartsila VASA 32, V18 (14 units), power barge Santa Ines.
  • Wartsila VASA 32, V16 (2 units), Power barge Estrella del Norte.
  • Total = 92 MW installed.
  • Routine maintenance: cylinder head dismantled and installed a cylinder head repaired for workshop, removed the piston, cleaned, check the tolerance of the piston ring with groove of piston crown and tolerance of housing connecting rod, cylinder liner removed for change o-rings and measurements inside and out side for check tolerance according to manual, Main bearings inspection, lube oil pump, HT and LT pump maintenance - dismantle and put back in good order, oil filter and fuel filter cleaned.
  • Helped the workshop in difficult targets overhead crane repairs, Sea pumps for sea cooling water, Plate heat exchanger, boilers, Fuel pumps, exhaust manifolds, overhaul of engine's, lub oil purifier and fuel separator with technical worker.
  • Inspection in ECR checks values in operation of engine's and evaluate to gave a diagnostic of possible root causes.
  • Active routine of operation with external operator for learn correct routine of operation of engine.
  • Troubleshoot and diagnosed with device measured the P.MAX in purge valve to detec piston ring broken, water in combustion chamber, Water in cylinder #9 because the water passing of housing of turbocharger to cylinder #9, High temperature in Fuel pumps, Calibrated fuel racks,
  • Trained and coached junior employees on procedures for completing various types of repairs and maintenance on engines.
  • Oversaw safety compliance within the power plant, consistently adhering to industry regulations and guidelines to minimize risk.
  • Challenges during my stay at power plant was installed the barge, and start to run the engines with out any electrical control, installed cylinder head without overhead crane, changed a crankshaft of S.I #9 because water going to the connecting rod bearing and friction overheat the journal and measurements of hardnnes was around 400 HRC. This job was done with Wartsila and Kanan overseas mechanics.
  • I was a leader of 4 mechanics, and my team has a green led with maintenance manager for made overtime, so we choose our jobs during next's 4 hours of overtime.
  • Working hours 12 hours, occasionally 16 hours because we need to traveled early to COLON for covered a one shift absent of personnel.

Mechanical Supervisor

  • Challenge during my first experience of supervisor was lost the scared in front of the mechanical problems.
  • In charge of the mechanical team and mechanical foreman around 6 workers, with project contract 8 mechanics more.
  • Total = 14 mechanics.
  • We did different jobs done with satisfactory results, installations of fix propeller around 10 tons, maneuverings of shaft propeller, assistance of technician of simplex compact (FWD. and AFT. Seal Box), overhaul of power packs of generators Man, Daihatsu, Yanmar, Main engine of 2 strokes, MAN and WARTSILA - 2 stroke engines descarbonization of cylinders, overhaul of turbocharger in shipyard we dismantled the turbocharged and cleaned then we used a subcontractor for Dynamic balancing and owner supply the spares parts.
  • CCP controllable pitch propeller installation of blades and tight the bolts with special hydraulic tool, installed the coupling and use a hydraulic jacks for tightening.
  • Rudder blade clearence (used a feeler gauge) and clearance of tail shaft (used poker gauge).
  • Changed cable of crane, hydraulic motor in windlass was repaired, break test in anchor windlass.
  • Crane 12 tons:
  • Overhaul of hydraulic cylinder, removed the chrome, checked alignment in steel rod and prepared the steel surface and then It is immersed in a furnace with liquid in new chrome, then polished, repaired the thread and nut, polished the housing. Pressure test in workshop and Installed back to crane.
  • Maintenance of condenser, heat plate exchanger, sea water pumps, fresh water pumps, lube oil pumps of 2 stroke main engine, intermediate bearing inspection.
  • In charge of Machining workshop in night shift.
  • Manufacturing bearing for rudder and shaft propeller, we used the manual for appliyed tolerances (thordon, orkot, bakelita) manufacturing bronce bushings, sleeve, repair bolts of rudders or propeller, made flanged, machining wheel of tower crane of shipyard.

  • Challenges: was taught the old mechanics how they can apply the correct torque to fuel valves. they are confused with units lbs/feet and N/m.
  • i rotated in all groups of maintenance for identified the a good mechanics and normal mechanics.
  • i identify a wrong installation with one cylinder liner, occasioned damage the piston and cylinder liner because if mark not match the cylinder liner not has lubrication.
  • I follow the instructions of the mechanical supervisor with W.O delivery before to start my shift.
  • Maintenance 1500 hours: inspection of roto caps, rocker arms, temperature in connecting rod with laser thermometer, corrections of leaks in fuel pipes, changed the high pressure pipes.
  • Removed Pistons, big end bearings, main bearing, cylinder liners, fuel valves, cylinder heads, fire rings, diffuser of turbocharger for change the speed sensor, fuel pumps, repaired the exhaust manifolds, clean automatic lube oil filter, filter duplex of booster pumps, radiators belts, air cooler and then installed according to manuals or original position.
  • During operation for not waste time help the operators with p.max measurements in all engines.
  • Started with overhaul of engine #1 and in one shift of 8 hours i removed the all cylinders heads, 18 cylinder head, with 3 mechanics and myself.



Mechanic

  • Support of the senior mechanics in overhaul of engines.
  • Cleaned the pistons, admission manifold, cleaned the high pressure pipes, fuel pipes, lube oil filter, fuel oils, used the hydraulic jack's for loose the nuts of the cylinder head and connecting rod, fire rings, cylinder liner, control air pipes, distributor starting valves, booster pump cleaned.
  • Air coolers and turbo charger maneuvering for transport to workshop.
  • Ultrasonic cleaned, sounding of copper tubing's, vacuum pressure in (-) minus for checked tubing's and pressure test.
  • Turbocharger dismantled and cleaned with sand blasting, dynamic balancing and assembled with new spares.
  • Cleaned the block, carter and special tools,
  • Workshop repair:
    Cylinder heads overhaul, fuel valves overhaul, fuel pumps maintenance.
    Calibrated the fuel valves.
