Yuri Funayama Soares Alexandre

• Since 2012, I’ve played in 200+ tournaments and won many of them. I was U18 State Champion (2021). Currently I am top 10 in the U18 National.

• Led junior chess team at local sports association, guiding younger players through team competitions as their captain.

• Published a college level independent research in a scientific magazine. Won several awards, including 4th place in Brazil's #1 national science fair.

• Served as an assistant teacher for a class of 20+ students (8 to 14 y.o.), teaching various chess concepts and strategies at beginner level.

• Led the school's robotics team through national olympiad, building and programming a rescue robot. Won 2nd place in the competiton.

• Group project on remote controlled boat that cleans polluted rivers; won entrepreneurship award and a trip to Silicon Valley Bootcamp.

• Engaged in intensive entrepreneurship bootcamp in Sillicon Valley, CA, learning about the world of tech while designing my own social media startup.

Participated in multiple academical olympiads representing the school, winning multiple gold, silver and bronze medals over the years.

• Elected by my classmates, I fulfilled the duty of communicating on behalf of fellows students with the school leadership during bi-weekly meetings.
