With 44 years of experience as an Agronomic Engineer, I have been working in the fields of Horticulture, Vegetables, and Reforestation. From 2005 to 2021, I worked in Africa, specifically in Gambia, providing consultancy services to one of the largest fruit and vegetable exporters in Senegal. In this international experience, I managed a subsidiary of a leading British multinational in the fruit and vegetable market, serving clients like Tesco, Sainsburys, Waitrose, Asada, and others in England and Europe. My responsibilities included delivering high-quality products while adhering to market protocols and the environmental and social legislation of the export destination. I coordinated logistics and techniques for 152 small mango producers and 18 community farms, producing vegetables. Responsible for ensuring the production of quality products exportable to the British and European markets, acting as a bridge between producers and markets. I directly oversaw two farms, totaling 350 hectares, with 200 hectares of various mango varieties and 150 hectares dedicated to annual vegetable cultivation. Managed the Packing House, overseeing post-harvest treatments, product conditioning for export, and implementing packaging systems and cold chambers. Focused on Sustainable Agriculture, respecting the environment, maintaining social justice, and ensuring economic viability. Emphasized Clean Agriculture, integrating leadership, communication, training, analytical skills, and problem-solving to achieve a sustainable end product without violating national and international environmental and social protocols. Emphasized economic viability while optimizing natural resources, maintaining soil health, minimizing water usage, and reducing pollution levels on farms. Operationalized the bureaucratic system with relevant agricultural ministries, ADAB, CREA, ENEMA, and other related agencies, qualifying the company for exports to the United States, Europe, and Japan.
