Julio Guimaraes, MD, Ph.D. is Assistant Professor of Radiology at the Federal University of Sao Paulo, Brazil with 12 years experience in MSK radiology. He completed his Postdoctoral Fellow in Musculoskeletal and Quantitative Imaging in the Department of Radiology and Biomedical Imaging at the University of California San Francisco, USA, where he currently is an associate researcher.
He is an active member of the Radiological Society of North America and the International Skeletal Society. Dr. Guimaraes is significantly involved with the International Society Activities, presenting research and educational posters since 2016, with 3 best poster awards in the last 5-years. Also, he presented lectures at the lasts 3 years of the annual ISS refresher course.
Dr. Guimaraes authored and coauthored over 35 peer-reviewed articles, including in the journals: Radiology, Radiographycs, European Radiology, AJR and Skeletal Radiology.
He is part of the editorial board of the Skeletal Radiology journal. His specific areas of research interest include hereditary and inflammatory myopathies, orthopedic surgery and musculoskeletal oncology.
Dr. Guimaraes is involved in teaching MSK radiology since 2012, working closely with residents and fellows at the Federal University of Sao Paulo and is the new coordinator of the MSK section of the Sociedade Paulista de Radiologia.
